This March 28th, 80/20 is collaborating with Thai Sommelier Group for a special wine dinner. Chefs ‘Joe’ Napol Jantraket and Saki Hoshino challenges leading Thai sommeliers to come up with perfect glasses to pair with their 9-course contemporary Thai cuisine, specially created for the night.
The invited sommeliers include some of the most respectable names in the business including Thanakorn Bortoff (Head Sommelier, Capella Bangkok Hotel, previously at 2-Michelin stars Suhring and 1-Michelin star Gaa), Panthompong Wangmanao (Head Sommelier, 1-Michelin star Saneh Jaan), Prateep Karnisthachart (Senior Wine Guru, Anantara Siam Hotel) and our own Thanakorn Mankit (Group Sommelier, Foodie Collection Group). They are to bring their extensive knowledge and flair in choosing wines to match well with chefs Joe & Saki’s hyperlocal, seasonal dishes that include Charcoal-Grilled River Prawn with Lemongrass Glaze, Braised Lamb Legs in Massaman Curry and Guava and Sato Mousse with Rosella Oil & Powder.
For each course, guests will experience a blind tasting and are asked to rate each wine based only on its food pairing quality. At the end of the dinner, the wines will be revealed and so is the sommelier that receives the highest score.
